University Archives

One of the Clarke Library's three core missions is to serve as the University Archives for Central Michigan University. The University Archives has always had a deep interest in records relating to students and alumni.
Among the archive's most valued holdings is an invitation to Central's second commencement ceremony (no copy of the invitation of the first commencement is known to survive).
The Clarke also preserves original editions of all the University's yearbooks. The yearbooks contain fascinating information and pictures that serve as windows into the perspectives of past students, faculty, and staff. One of those realities, the 1966 Homecoming float, is pictured on the right. The student newspaper, which is also preserved within the Clarke, is another important vehicle through which to understand the University and those who are a part of it.
Publications such as the recently printed Alumni Directory also help answer questions regarding alumni that are frequently asked of the library staff.
