Buildings CMU

Towers

Among the many components of the University Archives is the "brick and mortar" history of Central Michigan University. If the heart of the University's mission is found in the learning experience, the institution's bone and sinew are the many buildings in which that learning takes place.
Students, also, remember the buildings in which they learned and lived. Although the character of the memory varies among students, from fond reminisce to laughing reference to cramped quarters and cranky heaters, buildings are part of every student's experience and every alumni's memory of campus.
Although surprisingly difficult to document, the University Archives attempts to include documentation regarding each campus building, both current and historic. This documentation includes both information about the building itself and, in the case of named buildings, documentation regarding the person in whose honor the building was dedicated. Much of this information has been incorporated into the library's website, which documents Old Main, Anspach Hall, and the "Towers," each of which is pictured to the right.
