Noted re-enactor Tim Kent, will speak in costume regarding the life of a typical French trader living in Michigan in the 1700’s.

Steve Brisson, “The French at Mackinac”
Steve Brisson, chief curator of the Mackinac State Historic Parks, will discuss the French presence in the Straights Region from approximately 1671 to 1763.

Monday May 12th, 2008
Susan Sleeper-Smith
A member of the MSU history faculty, author of “Indian Women and French Men: Rethinking Cultural Encounters in the Western Great Lakes”, Susan will speak on her research.

Thursday May 22nd, 2008
Mark Hoffman, “The First Michigan Engineers and the Civil War”
Mr. Hoffman has recently published a regimental history of this Civil War unit. His book was selected as one of twenty Michigan Notable Books by the Library of Michigan.


Each event will be held at 7:00pm in the Park Library Auditorium and will be followed by a reception, down the hall, in the Clarke Historical Library.
